The sushi was decent, the miso soup could have used some salt, it was a little bland. The fried shumai was courtesy of Yelp (check-in offer). Overall, good place for the price point

So, I saw that Okaeri had a LivingSocial/Groupon and had never heard of it, but went on their website and saw the menu and it looked pretty good, so I decided to buy the Groupon.

Went there tonight, not realizing that I couldn't use the Groupon because of the holiday.  When we walked in to restaurant tonight and mentioned that we had a Groupon, the first thing the host says, "it's a holiday and we won't honor the coupon."  So, my first thought is to turn around and leave, but decided to stay as we were both hungry.

We ordered 2 appetizers, "tuna tartar" & "sushi pizza."  The tartar was flavorless w/ an inch or red caviar on top and a quail egg.  This was actually the better of the 2 appetizers!  The presentation of the sushi pizza was phenomenal; HOWEVER the crust was so greasy & oily and the appetizer was a total dud!

I am in outside sales and eat at sushi restaurants often, and this was one of the worst sushi restaurants that I've eaten at.

We did get a sashimi dinner.  The presentation was absolutely phenomenal, BUT the mackerel wasn't fresh.  The rest of the sashimi was very good overall!  The salad was fine, but the miso soup was watered down and flavorless.

Although the sashimi was good, we won't be coming back!  I will be reaching out to Groupon and trying to get a refund as I have 0 interest in eating there again!

Their sushi was very fresh. Customer service was great.
However, their kimchi Jjigae was a disappointment. I was craving Asian food and this Jjigae was very bland. They should add some rice cakes and some meat in there.

I love me some sushi and was in dire need!! Sounds so dramatic but yes its true. DISCLAIMER: The place is located in a strip mall and you might not notice it at first. Not decorated on the outside and basically uninviting from the outside but...don't let that fool you. I was surprised how nice the place was inside. We were greeted and seated immediately.

Before I begin, I had to order a drink because this was my first time out without the children in forever. I had the white sangria which was okay but it did creep up so behave and don't drink it fast like I did.

Forgive me but we ordered so much food and I can't remember it all. We literally pigged out like the world was ending and it felt fantastic. I know we got the fried calamari which was small but it was definitely fresh. Came with a weird bbq dipping sauce which kinda went okay with it but I wasn't loving. We also got a miso and seafood soup which was really delicious!! The seafood soup didn't have a big fishy smell like I expected and had a lot of fresh seafood inside. A must try.

Now for the last supper type feast: I know we had the lobster special roll and this was amazing. We ordered another one which I can't remember but we also got 3 to 4 of the regular rolls--spicy scallop, spicy shrimp tempura to name a few.

To sum up, the food was so delicious and fresh! The service was great, the place is really clean and the ambiance was even better. I would definitely come back here without a doubt and try the hibachi.

The food tasted good and was fresh. I got the free shumai which was also very good! We were seated almost immediately. The hibachi chef was very aggressive however. Just throwing at people without asking. Over pouring sake in my brothers mouth so that it over flows on his clothes. He was also very messy, getting food all over the table when plating!
